rate of return. DII was able to identify the
key stakeholders who could be influenced to
support higher rates of return. As a result
of implementing DII strategies, the utility
company received the highest rate increase
in its history.
Predicted how earnings
from services would be allowed between
industrial customers and residential
customers of a utility company. DII
identified, through analytical analysis, the
stakeholders who supported each position and
the factions that formed around them. DII
devised strategies to shift these factions
to more closely mirror the viewpoint of our
Client.
Predicted the rate of
return that a State Commission would approve
for utility rates. DII determined which
members of the Commission could be
influenced to support higher returns and at
what level.
DII forecast
prospective regulatory negotiations for a
European utility company. Issues included
changes to the regulatory framework, credit
rating, efficiency targets, and capitalizing
or expensing expenditures. While DII’s
initial analysis indicated that our Client
would likely achieve none of its objectives,
DII was able to devise strategies our Client
could pursue to increase its leverage with
the Regulator and achieve close to its
desired outcomes.
